What Happens if Your Parents Can’t Pay for a Psychologist?
Question by personyesIam: What happens if your parents can’t pay for a psychologist?
My mum always tells me I need to get mental help..but all she does is ask for group therapy and then my dad doensn’t turn up and we just talk about why he isn’t there.
My mum won’t get me a psychologist because she says its too expensive..but she has one T__T
I am severly depressed as I have attempted suicide I am pretty sure I have an eating disorder..which I blame on my mothers abuse when taking drugs and alcohol…
Is there any other free help? Besides kids helpline because they basically just repeat back to you what you said to try and “undersand”.

when your in the group therapry speak up and say i dont want to talk about my dad i want to talk about why im depressed. 🙂 good luck
It sounds like two major things happened to your life.
One is that your father seems to have adbandoned you, and second is that your mother appears to either blame you or just sit back and do drugs and drink alcohol. I don’t think you need mental help as much as your mother wants you to think.
Either way, that is a pretty horrible way to grow up. I only wish I could say something to make you feel better, but there are many ways to get help.
First try to talk to a teacher or some at school.
Second, try to stay away from home. I don’t mean run away, but try things like sports, or join a club or something. Or perhaps get a part time job somewhere, and you can easily save up.
well if your in school (like high or middle) u can usually tell your counselor your problom and they will go out and get u a therapist or psychologist…thats what i did cause i also had thoghts of suicide
Most states offer free or reduced rates for therapy. You should have your parents look into that for you.

call whatever office the dr is from that your mom is seeing and ask if they have ” free care ” well that’s what they call it hear some places you can sign up for medical and mental care that costs nothing or very little and tell them that you mom sees someone there and if they don’t have the ” free care ” or assistance set an appointment up with your mothers doctor and shell have to pay for it and as you get talking to the doctor he or she will see you need it and will probably talked to your mom about letting you see someone.
Good Luck and God Bless
