Which Name Is Better for a Fiction Male?

Question by ????: Which name is better for a fiction male?
He looks like Johnny Depp if I had to compare his looks to someone.

Briefly: His mother slept with a man while at Woodstock in 1969, the only thing she knew about him was his name. She than found out she was pregnant at 19 and decided to clean her life up which led her down the road to becoming a successful artist.

Giving birth to my character in 1970, she raised him in a free expression household. His mother died from lung cancer when he was 17. He then lived on the streets for 5 years, while living on those streets he played guitar to support his drug and alcohol addiction.

When he was 22 he wanted to go on a road trip, with no car or money, he sold paintings his mother had left in her studio, making enough to buy a 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible, he took his road trip.

That’s all I’ve got so far, but my character is a loner, he’s a writer and artist, serious but quirky, very spiritual.

The names I’ve narrowed it down to (I won’t take suggestions unless they’re really, really good nature, hippie names)
-Rain
-Indiana (this isn’t being published in a book so I’m not worried about Indiana Jones over shadowing my character)

I like Indiana but the first thing that popped into my head was Channing. Don’t know why.
