Question by peace: Robitussin gives me hives…?

so I got this cold like a little less than 2 weeks ago, then it went away for a few days, then this girl rudely coughed right in my face while my mouth was open (didn’t even apologize!), and now i have a really bad cold again…i have a bad cough and a really runny nose and my head just feels all pressured and stuffed and what not..so my mom and i went to the store and there was a ton of cold medicines and of course the only one that fit my description well was, God forbid, Robitussin. I remember taking robitussin when i was like in the 4th grade…all i remember is having this MAJOR hives breakout…like it was bad…i constantly had Benadryl all over me…so anyways at the store i told my mom that the last time i took Robitussin i got a really bad hives breakout (this was when i was living with my dad so my mom didn’t know about it) she was just like “well thats all i see that works, so you might as well try it”..i was in such a crappy mood and felt so sick and crappy i was like, what the heck, i’ll take it…wow am i an idiot…so now i have really itchy hives on my upper arms, neck, upper back, and my head…? it seems kind of strange that i have it like ALL over my head, not on my face, but like all over my scalp and stuff…is that normal? and is this an allergic reaction? and is there another medicine i could be taking instead of Robitussin? because i still feel sick but obviously i am not taking anymore Robitussin…sorry that this was so long thanks in advance!    Read more...
